News Update
February started with a first aid refresher course for Steve and a couple of his associate consultants. It’s very useful to be able to offer
‘appointed first-aider’ services to clients when on site. The month continued with an ‘in-house’ conference for Shell UK at their Waterloo HQ,
with Steve providing specific risk assessments and site safety management for Metro Broadcast.
During the middle of the month, Space Events contracted Steve to provide full H&S consultancy for a conference and party for SIFMA at Old
Billingsgate Market. The conference was laid out in the East Hall and exhibitor displays and refreshments were provided in the West Hall. On
Wednesday 13th a party was held in the Vaults.
On February 17th the annual TPI awards were held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. The Great Room was used for the evening
awards and the Court Suite was used for the afternoon awards in conjunction with the PSA general conference. The set up commenced at
7am on the Sunday morning, but even given the early start and the long day ahead, all crew diligently and safely installed the equipment and
still had time for a bit of good humour and high spirits. A venue representative remarked to Steve how ‘great it was to have crew displaying
great skill and professionalism particularly when the eyes of the industry will be upon their work later in the evening’. Big SKC thanks to
James Cobb, Mondiale, HSL Productions and Local Crew Ltd amongst others.
The Concerto Group held their latest H&S Committee Meeting during the month, with Steve chairing. Accident rates for the run of Christmas
events 2007 were produced and showed a marked decrease on the previous year. Very satisfying for all involved and again demonstrated the
Group’s commitment to improving H&S culture right throughout all divisions. |
